Azure Aster (also Sky Blue Aster)

Symphyotrichum oolentangiense (formerly Aster azureus or Aster oolentangiensis)

Flowers about 1" across, a beautiful lavender-blue color; leaves long-ovate, usually toothless, covered esp. beneath with fine hairs that make them feel rough.

1-4 feet, sun or partial shade.

Late Summer-Fall (August-October).

Lower and base leaves on substantial u-shaped petioles (stems).
