Panicled Aster

Symphyotrichum lanceolatum (formerly Aster simplex)

This very tall white variety has smooth stems and long, narrow, untoothed leaves on short stalks. Individual lowers about 5/8" across, in dense clusters.

3-8 feet, sun or light shade.

Late Summer-Autumn (August-October).

Like many asters, the yellow centers of the flowers turn reddish as they age. The honeybee provides scale.
