Smooth Aster (also Smooth Blue Aster)

Symphyotrichum laeve (formerly Aster laevis)

This beautiful plant has blossoms of lavender-blue about 1" across, atop stalks of abundant and firm leaves of an unusual blue-green color, making it easy to identify.

1-3 feet, partial shade to shade.

Late Summer-Autumn (August-October).

Leaves are strikingly smooth and thick, almost meaty-feeling, usually clasping stem and toothless--and almost bluish in color.
