Wild Bergamot

monarda fistulosa

This member of the mint family is the wild relative of the common garden "Bee-balm" that gives its distinctive flavor to Earl Grey tea.

2-3 feet, sun or partial shade.

Midsummer (July-August).

Bloomed-out heads of Bergamot capped by winter snow. If chewed, it still tastes like Earl Grey.
