Giant Bur-Reed (Broadfruit Bur-Reed)

Sparganium eurycarpum

This aquatic plant has long reed-like leaves and separate flowering spikes. Pistils take the form of fuzzy spheres, stamens of smaller, more compact spheres. Seed heads spiky (lower left in photo at left).

aquatic, 1-6 feet in shallow water, sun.

Summer-Autumn (July-October).

Growing in shallow water.
