Beach Clotbur

Xanthium echinatum

A low beach plant with clusters of burs in leaf axils.  Stems mottled with purple. Leaves large, with shallow lobes or unlobed. Seeds spiny, clustered.

1-2 feet, sun.

Late Summer-Autumn (August-October).

Seeds in late autumn, after leaves have died off.
