Green-headed Coneflower

Rudbeckia laciniata         (Cut-leaved Coneflower)

This towering coneflower has flowers with a central dome that begins tight and greenish, but becomes a rather unkempt yellow as it matures. The large yellow petals on mature flowers are reflexed (bend back away from center). Lower leaves are very large and deeply lobed; leaves higher on stem are smaller and simple.


3-12 feet, partial shade, moist areas.


Summer (July-September).

The large, deeply lobed, drooping lower leaves.
