Sharp-lobed Hepatica
Hepatica acutiloba
This beautiful early spring plant has leaves about 1-1/2 to 2 inches across that have three pointed lobes (sometimes more than three, in odd numbers). However, some plants send up shoots of flowers before the leaves appear; in others, the leaves have overwintered. Flowers on fairly low talks have varying numbers of petals (sepals, actually), ofteh white, but sometimes pink or lavendar, or rarely blue. They are a welcome sight as one of the first to appear on the forest floor in spring.
Under 2 foot, partial sun.
