Poke Milkweed

Asclepias exaltata

Loose, drooping umbels of flowers appear near the top of this relatively tall milkweed. Flowers have greenish petals and pinkish to white hoods.  Leaves are large and broad (up to 8 inches long, 3 inches wide), smooth smooth- edged (untoothed), opposite, and attached to the main stem by short stalks up to an inch or more in length.

2-6 feet, sun - partial sun.

Summer (June-August).

  Flowers in a few loose umbels near top of plant.
