Rugosa Rose  (Wrinkled Rose)

Rosa rugosa

Frequently a garden cultivar, this rose most commonly has bright rose-colored petals but can be pale pink or, as here, white. Flowers in clusters are large, often 3 inches or more across. The "wrinkled" name refers to the leaves, which are more strongly veined than leaves of other roses, which appear thinner and flatter; it might be noted that the five petals of the flowers are also rather wrinkled. Distinctive are the dense thorns of varying lengths along the stems.  The hips of this species are unusually large, up to 1 inch in diameter.

2-6 feet, sun - partial sun.
