Silverweed
Argentina anserina (formerly Potentilla anserina)
This creeping cinquefoil puts down roots from nodes on the recumbent runners (stolons), which are red. The pinnate leaves grow on stalks from the runners, and can be up to 8 inches long with up to two dozen pairs of opposite leaflets, each 2 inches or less long, toothed especially at the tips, and silvery underneath. Separate stems support yellow, five-petaled flowers about 3/4 inch across.
The roots of Silverweed are edible.
