Night-flowering Catchfly

Silene noctiflora

The five petals of this flower are deeply notched (see picture below) but seldom seen because they usually shrivel within an hour or so of sunrise (picture left). Stems and veined calyx are hairy and sticky.

1-4 feet, sun.

Summer (July-September).

Petals white to pink, rounded, deeply notched.
