Pale Purple Coneflower
Echinacea pallida
This coneflower has narrow petals varying from pale pink, sometimes almost white, to hot pink. One flower appears on each hairy stem. Lower leaves are long (up to one foot) and narrow, untoothed, and parallel-veined. This flower blooms about two weeks earlier than the similar Purple Coneflower.
2-4 feet, sun.
Summer (June-July).
In this young blossom the narrow petals are not yet reflexed. The stems are covered with white hairs.
