Lady's Thumb (Redleg)
Persicaria maculosa (formerly Polygonum persicaria)
Flowers are white or pink and tiny, occurring in tight clusters up to 1 inch long held above the leaves on thin stalks. The leaves are ovate,slender with an acute point, green, and not infrequently have a darker green irregular spot near the middle of the leaf. The jointed stems have a thin sheath at each joint, and in this plant these sheaths have a fringe of short hairs extending upward along the stem.
1-2 feet, shade - partial shade.
Summer-Autumn (June-October).
