Wild Lettuce
Lactuca canadensis
This very tall plant produces many branches from a thick main stem, with many buds and pale yellow flowers (about 3/4 inch across) blooming irregularly on each branch. Stems are smooth, green or tinged with red. Leaves are large near base (up to one foot in length) but may be pointed and untoothed, as in photo at left, or deeply lobed and toothed, resembling leaves of dandelion.
4-10 feet, sun-partial sun.
