Bittersweet Nightshade
Solanum dulcamara
The plant tends to clamber over others, sometimes climbing like a vine. Sinuous brownish stems, often branched, have leaves on short petioles that consist of three pointed lobes, with the central lobe usually much larger than the two lower lobes; leaves up to 4 inches long. Separate stalks from the main stem bear clusters of small (ca. 3/8 inch long) flowers with 5 strongly reflexed violet petals and in the center a bright yellow pointed beak. Petals may also be white. After blooming, spherical, smooth green berries about 3/8 inch in diameter form, which ripen to bright red.

Spring-Summer (May-September).
The fruit is in the form of small green berries that ripen to red.
