Solomon's-Seal

Polygonatum biflorum (also P. commutatum)

A woodland species, this plant produces arching round stems about 3 feet long with alternate clasping leaves 6 inches or more long and 2 or more inches wide; they are parallel-veined, pointed, smooth, and smooth-edged.  The inconspicuous flowers hand beneath the arching stems in clusters (often pairs) and are greenish-white or greenish-yellow. After blooming, they produce round berries that eventually turn dark purple-black.
